THE PRINCE IS NOT WHITE!

If you've haven't known, Disney has went back to 2D! Their 9th princess movie The Princess and the Frog is coming to theaters December 11th.

The movie is basically about Disney's first African American princess in '20s New Oreleans. Tiana kisses a frog so he can turn back into a prince. But because she is not a princess yet, Tiana turns into a frog instead. This movie is already a hit before it comes out, especially to the adults. But this movie has a lot of controversy, mainly because of race:

1.) Tiana was originally "Maddie the chambermaid" who was serving a white family.

2.) Prince Naveen is white.


The only reason why I'm glad the staff changed Tiana's storyline is because it sounds too similiar as Cinderella. Other than that, I don't see much of the racism people are complaining about-coming from a black woman. Snow White and Cinderella were chambermaids and they were treated worse than "Maddie". Wouldn't it be easier if the staff changed the family she's serving into a black family? :iconconfusedplz:

And let's make this clear-THE PRINCE NOT WHITE! It has been confirmed as Tiana's VA Anika Nori Rose! Still, Disney hasn't made is clear what race Naveen is; all we know he has a French accent. But why should it matter? Just because Tiana's black doesn't mean she has to be with a black prince. This is Disney's 2nd interracial couple (next to Pocahontas)and it brings a good message that LOVE IS BLIND! It's fucking 2009 people! :iconshoutplz:

Ugh...*epic facepalm* Why do people not get that serventism is colorblind? Besides, what's wrong with interacial coupling? It's an advantage actually since diversity is what makes better kids. I swear, this is what we call "reverse racism."

I thought the chambermaid thing was more historically correct. I mean, in the 1920s it would be common for rich white famlies to have black houseworkers. In the south this was very popular. It is sad, but that was some of the few jobs blacks could get at that time.

But again you are right, Cinderella, the textbook example of a princess was also white, blond hair blue eyes! Come on people it's a job, simple as that.

Also about the mix race, really. I think this is just some people acting out because it might be saying black females aren't good enough for black men. Hey for all we know the next prince in a Disney movie might be black!

I don't care, I'm just glad this movie is coming out now. Maybe we could get more different princess or hey maybe a gay couple for all I know!

-I agree, but thanks to stupid people (cough) BET (cough) The writers had to change the story. If they didn't have to, we've would of seen the movie by now.

-I agree again! Cindy and Snow were slaves in their own homes. Maddie wasn't like that in the original plotline.
But like I said, the only reason why I'm glad they've changed it because her story seemed too much as Cindy. I would love for Tiana to have her own story.

-Could be. Althought it's most likely that Naveen is Latino,but his VA is.

-That would be interesting for a Disney cartoon with a gay couple. :3

he is probably just supposed to exotic foriegn prince

he has dark skin..
